Frequently asked questions about learning saxophone
Can I learn the saxophone knowing nothing about music theory?
Absolutely. The beginner course is built for people starting from zero — you are taken from breathing into the belly and forming an embouchure through to performing two or three familiar ballads in full, with no prior theory needed.
How long does it take to play a complete piece?
With a structured route and regular practice, most students can play a straightforward ballad or pop song after about twelve lessons. The pace depends on how much you practise and on your breathing foundation.
Can I learn without owning a saxophone? Which one should a beginner buy?
You can borrow a horn during the lesson if you do not own one yet. For a beginner the alto is usually the easiest place to start, with its compact body and moderate air requirement; the tenor suits you if you prefer a thick, warm sound.
What do the saxophone courses cost?
